Introduction to Exercise 3 - Using adjectives with -ed and -ing endings correctly
Some verbs become adjectives when –ing or –ed endings are added to them. However, their meanings are different depending on which of the two endings they have.
•
Use –ed adjectives such as interested, excited when you describe feelings or emotions that someone experiences.
Example: Alex was really excitedwhen he found out that he had won the scholarship.
•
Use –ing adjectives such as interesting, exciting to describe something that causes these feelings or emotions.
Example:Winning such a highly competitive scholarship is an exciting opportunity for Alex to pursue his education.
Read the following passages. Then type the –ed or –ing form of each word from the list in the correct space. When finished, click DONE. The correct answers will remain in the text, while the incorrect ones will be deleted. You will have as many chances as you need to complete the passage.
