CATW Student Essay: Response Paragraph #2
If our society is to truly become "green," we will have to adapt our lives in ways that at first might seem unpleasant. Instead of traveling by car or plane, we will have to use more technology like Skype to communicate with loved ones. We will have to make an effort to eat food that comes from local farms, and we may have to get used to only eating certain fruits and vegetables at the time of year when they are in season locally. In her article, Hanus mentions the advantages of "low-flow showerheads," but I believe that we will need to give up a lot more than just our high water pressure if we are going to prevent massive climate change. Still, any action we can take, no matter how small, is better than doing nothing. The problems that are threatening our planet will not be solved just with cloth grocery bags, no matter how many people use them.
