About Us

The E-Resource Center is a virtual resource center for non-native English speaking students and the faculty who teach them at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The site was developed by the staff of the Center for English Language Support and funded by grants from the US Department of Education (Title V) and the New York State Education Department (Perkins III).

The Center for English Language Support is an instructional and tutoring center that offers expert on-site and on-line tutorials and workshops to undergraduate and graduate students at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The mission of the Center is to assist non-native English speaking students to acquire academic language proficiency, superior writing skills, and independent learning strategies in order to become successful participants in the John Jay community.
The Center’s services include:
  • individual tutoring in grammar and writing (appointment required)
  • small-group workshops (Workshops this month)
  • computer-assisted language learning
  • Internet ESL activities (ESL Online)
  • library search (Research Tools)
  • practical advice to develop research papers

The Center for English Language Support is located in Room 1201 North Hall.
